Securing High-Quality Cement for the Gadukdo New Airport Project
The material that requires the largest volume in airport construction is cement, and the first step to building a world-class airport is securing high-quality cement!
On April 23, the Gadukdo New Airport Construction Corporation (Chairman Lee Yoonsang) signed a business agreement with the Korea Cement Association (Chairman Jeon Geunsik) at the corporation's main conference room.
This agreement was established to provide a stable foundation for the supply of high-quality cement, which is essential for the new airport construction project, and to promote the development of the domestic cement industry.
The main areas of cooperation include: supplying high-quality cement for the new airport construction project; supporting quality inspections of cement delivered to the site; and ensuring the stable supply of cement to the site.
Since the Gadukdo New Airport is the largest-ever marine reclamation construction project, it is essential to secure high-quality cement that is resistant to external environmental factors such as sea winds and salt.
Cement is a key material used in the deep cement mixing (DCM) method, which reinforces weak seabed ground, as well as in the construction of caissons?large concrete structures as tall as a ten-story apartment building?and throughout airport facilities such as berths and curbsides.
Through this agreement, not only has a foundation been established for the timely procurement of high-quality cement for the Gadukdo New Airport construction, but both parties have also agreed to closely cooperate on supplying eco-friendly cement and building a carbon-neutral airport, as well as ensuring the sustainable development of the cement industry.
Lee Yoonsang, Chairman of the corporation, stated, "The stable procurement of highly durable cement that can withstand extreme marine conditions is directly linked to the quality and safety of the construction," adding, "Through this agreement, we will do our utmost to ensure that the Gadukdo New Airport is completed as a world-class airport that meets global standards."
