The Gwangju Office of Education has proposed four major policies and six specific tasks for the advancement of education in Gwangju ahead of the 21st presidential election.


On the 23rd, the Gwangju Office of Education held a press conference and announced its plan to deliver policy proposals to each political party. These proposals focus on nurturing talent in AI and future mobility, providing emotional support, promoting everyday engagement in arts and sports, and spreading the spirit of May.

The main tasks include establishing an "AI and Future Mobility Meister High School" tailored to Gwangju's strategic industries, creating a "Mind Health Center" to support the mental health of students and staff, building a "K-Culture Performance Hall," and relocating "Gwangju Physical Education Middle and High School" along with constructing a comprehensive sports center. The proposals also include enshrining the spirit of the 5·18 Democratization Movement in the preamble of the Constitution and making 5·18 education mandatory in schools nationwide.


The Office of Education hopes that these policy proposals will be reflected in presidential campaign pledges and serve as an opportunity to enhance the future competitiveness of education in Gwangju.


Superintendent Lee Jungseon stated, "We will strive to ensure that policies reflecting Gwangju's identity and the trends of the times can be realized."
