1,774 Applicants Compete for 117 Positions Across 9 Recruitment Categories
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) announced on April 23 that 1,774 applicants had applied for the 2025 local government official recruitment exam, which will select 117 candidates, resulting in an average competition rate of 15.2 to 1.
This year's number of positions has decreased by 38 compared to last year, but the number of applicants has increased by 27, leading to a higher competition rate than last year's 11.3 to 1.
By job category, the competition rates are as follows: Education Administration (Grade 9, General) 18.4 to 1; IT (Grade 9) 25.5 to 1; Librarian (Grade 9) 26.7 to 1; Engineering (Grade 9, General Electricity) 6 to 1; Facilities (Grade 9, Architecture) 7 to 1; Records Researcher 8 to 1; and Facilities Management (Grade 9) 7.8 to 1. The highest competition rate was recorded in the Librarian (Grade 9) category.
For recruitment aimed at expanding and guaranteeing public service entry opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups, the competition rate for low-income applicants in Education Administration (Grade 9, Low-Income) was 19.5 to 1, and for applicants with disabilities in Education Administration (Grade 9, Disabled) it was 3.4 to 1.
By gender, 33.5% of applicants (595 people) were male and 66.5% (1,179 people) were female. By age group, those in their 20s or younger accounted for the largest proportion at 46.6% (827 people), followed by those in their 30s at 35.9% (637 people), those in their 40s at 15.2% (269 people), and those aged 50 or older at 2.3% (41 people).
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to announce the written exam locations on May 30 and to hold the written exam at local middle and high schools on June 21.
