At this session, Pukyong National University announced its vision to become the "Global No.1 Blue Ocean Tech University Leading Advanced Marine Innovation."

Blue Ocean Tech refers to innovative technologies that transform the traditional fisheries and marine industries into future-oriented, high value-added industries by integrating advanced technologies.

The university presented several strategies for project implementation, including the establishment of "BAIST," a joint research body among national universities modeled after the so-called "Busan-style KAIST," the cultivation of specialized convergent talent in Blue Ocean Tech, and the creation of the UniSchool model, which will be operated jointly with the Office of Education.

Specifically, the university plans to establish a consortium graduate school among national universities to conduct future-oriented industry-academia joint research and to train approximately 1,000 master's and doctoral students over three years. Additionally, it will operate around 200 modular Blue Ocean Tech tracks to nurture about 1,000 Blue Ocean Tech professionals annually.

The university also aims to establish the "UniSchool" model, which will serve as an educational hub throughout the entire life cycle, linking early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school education with lifelong learning. Furthermore, it plans to increase the number of international students from the current 1,700 to 3,000.

To achieve these goals, Pukyong National University has recently signed a series of agreements with local government, industry, academia, and research organizations, including the Busan Research Institute, Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Busan Economic Promotion Agency, Korea Research Institute of Ship and Ocean Engineering, Korea Energy Economics Institute, and Korea Institute of Materials Science, to build a robust collaborative network.

Pukyong National University President Bae Sanghoon stated, "We plan to create a regionally rooted innovation model by establishing joint governance with local governments and other stakeholders. We will not only lead innovation within the university but also in the region, becoming a reliable partner for the community and a world-leading university in the field of Blue Ocean Tech."
