Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk recently began supporting chili pepper transplanting work to expedite the recovery of farming in the areas of Danchon-myeon and Anpyeong-myeon, which suffered significant damage from the recent wildfire.
From April 21 to April 25, over a period of five days, the county is deploying 34 pieces of agricultural machinery, including tractors, to these areas and is focusing support on field preparation work for chili pepper transplanting, such as rotary tilling and ridge formation.
More than 40 people are participating in this effort, including agricultural machinery specialists dispatched from Uiseong County, the Rural Development Administration, and local governments nationwide.
In particular, farms that lost their agricultural machinery in the wildfire and are unable to resume farming on their own have been given priority for support, and the work is being carried out on a total of 19 hectares of farmland.
Starting with this emergency farming support, the county plans to continue providing customized technical assistance to farms throughout the entire crop cultivation process, including pest and disease control and growth management.
Kim Jusu, the governor of Uiseong County, said, "We are mobilizing all administrative, technical, and human resources to support farmers who are refusing to give up and are determined to rise again in the face of the disaster caused by the wildfire." He added, "I hope that this farming assistance will not only provide practical support but also become an opportunity to give courage and hope to the affected farms."
