The Korea Photonics Technology Institute will collaborate with Chirchik City, Uzbekistan, on joint research and development in the field of photonics convergence technology.
On April 22 (local time), the Korea Photonics Technology Institute announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Chirchik City for joint research and development of photonics convergence technology to establish a smart city.

This agreement was made in connection with a smart lighting pilot project being promoted in Chirchik City, utilizing technology held by Tronics, a company based at the Korea Photonics Technology Institute. The institute plans to pursue practical cooperation measures with Chirchik City, including joint research, technology demonstration, and on-site application.
Uzbekistan has recently been accelerating industrial modernization and digital transformation, and Chirchik City is seeking economic growth through technology-based projects such as smart city development. The Korea Photonics Technology Institute believes that this agreement will serve as an opportunity to establish a mutually complementary partnership.
President Shin Yongjin stated, "We will actively support this agreement so that it can lead to technology demonstration and industrial achievements."
Both sides plan to expand cooperation, including technology exchange and joint research, starting with this agreement.
