Kim Myungsook of Cheonan City Council Receives Appreciation Plaque from Korea Housing Managers Association South Chungcheong Branch

On April 22, Kim Myungsook, a member of the Cheonan City Council in South Chungcheong Province, announced that she had received a plaque of appreciation from the South Chungcheong branch of the Korea Housing Managers Association.

Kim received the award in recognition of her efforts to protect the rights of workers in multi-family housing complexes and to improve their poor working conditions.

Last month, she amended the city’s building ordinance to allow the construction of temporary rest facilities for workers within multi-family housing complexes. In addition, last year, she participated in proposing an amendment to the ordinance on the promotion of human rights and job security for workers in multi-family housing.

Kim Myungsook stated, "While the installation of rest facilities for workers in multi-family housing is mandatory, older complexes have faced practical difficulties due to a lack of available space for such facilities. After hearing complaints that workers had no appropriate place to eat or rest, I have been considering ways to improve the situation."

She added, "Going forward, I will actively gather opinions to develop comprehensive solutions for issues related to aging multi-family housing facilities, working conditions, and safety concerns."
