In an effort to continuously attract more Korean tourists, the Taiwan Tourism Administration visited Seoul to hold a promotional event together with the Taiwan Tourism Association, a foundation, and a total of 78 representatives from the Taiwanese tourism industry.
To allow people to enjoy gourmet experiences in a vibrant atmosphere in Seoul, a pop-up event was held under the theme "Cheers! Pure Romance, Taiwan!" The event took place from April 19 to 20 in Hannam-dong, a district popular among young people in Seoul, with the concept of "Taiwan Lechao (Taiwanese-style pub)." At the venue, the band "A_ROOT," a Golden Melody Awards winner, delivered a performance capturing the spirit of Taiwan, adding to the lively and dynamic atmosphere unique to Lechao.
At the event, visitors could participate in various programs, including a hands-on "Pineapple Shrimp Tempura" cooking experience, wool felt keyring DIY, and more. A variety of Lechao dishes such as Yansuji (Taiwanese salt-fried chicken), Taiwanese beer, and guava juice were also served, allowing guests to enjoy the tastes and vibes of an authentic Taiwanese Lechao without leaving Korea, according to organizers.
Additionally, the "Taiwan the Lucky Land" event was held at the roadshow venue. This sweepstakes, which has been running since May 2023 for independent travelers, has seen the highest number of entries from Korean tourists among all foreign participants to date. Winners can use their accommodation vouchers at premium hotels when visiting Taiwan.
An official stated, "This event showcased Taiwan's diverse charms through Lechao, a representative aspect of Taiwanese food culture, and a wealth of engaging activities," adding, "With the summer peak season approaching, the Taiwan Tourism Administration is ramping up efforts to attract Korean tourists, and we hope that many more Korean visitors will travel to Taiwan and experience the ultimate satisfaction of a Taiwan trip."
Meanwhile, in addition to the "Cheers! Pure Romance, Taiwan!" pop-up event, the Taiwan Tourism Administration held a B2B tourism briefing at Lotte Hotel Seoul on April 21. The event was attended by Yeh Juilan, Honorary President of the Taiwan Tourism Association, Chen Yuyan, President of the Taiwan Tourism Association, representatives from the Jinmen County Government, Liengang County Government, travel agencies, airlines, hotels, and a total of 46 organizations and 78 industry representatives. Over 200 business consultations took place in a passionate atmosphere, with active information exchange and discussions on collaboration with Korean tourism industry professionals.
