Promoting Public Awareness and Spreading a Culture of Safety
in Collaboration with Hite Jinro
The Changwon Fire Headquarters in Gyeongnam conducted a public-private joint campaign in the Hapjeong-dong area of Masanhoewon-gu to prevent verbal abuse and physical assault against paramedics.
The campaign, held on the afternoon of April 21, was organized in cooperation with Hite Jinro and took place in areas with a high concentration of liquor stores. This location was chosen to reflect the reality that over 85% of verbal and physical assaults against paramedics are committed by individuals under the influence of alcohol.
Ten employees from Hite Jinro and nine staff members from the Changwon Fire Headquarters participated in the campaign. They distributed bottle opener promotional items containing the message "Eradicate Verbal Abuse and Physical Assault Against Paramedics" to citizens, aiming to raise public awareness and interest in the issue.
As a follow-up to this campaign, Hite Jinro plans to add a message promoting the protection of paramedics to its liquor product labels during May and June, in order to continuously deliver this message to the public.
Lee Sanggi, head of the Changwon Fire Headquarters, stated, "This campaign was a meaningful activity in which the public and private sectors collaborated to naturally spread a culture of safety in citizens' daily lives." He added, "We will continue to promote various public relations activities and public-private cooperation to ensure the safety of paramedics and improve social awareness."
