Jongno District in Seoul (Mayor Jung Moonheon) will host the "2025 Jongno Eoulnurim Festival" at Marronnier Park (Daehak-ro 104) on April 24, in celebration of Disability Day. The festival aims to contribute to improving awareness of disabilities, enhance mutual understanding between people with and without disabilities, and foster a more inclusive society.

The event, organized by the Jongno District Association of Disabled Persons’ Organizations and the Jongno Welfare Center for the Disabled, will be held under the theme "Understanding Differences in Spring, Living Together in Spring" from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program includes a reading of the Declaration of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, cultural performances, and an awards ceremony.
The reading of the Declaration of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be conducted by four readers, each representing a different type of disability: physical, hearing, intellectual, and visual, adding special significance to the event. Special performances are scheduled, including a show by the disabled percussion team "Ullimsori" and a performance by visually impaired singer Lee Areum. There will also be a time to express gratitude to individuals who have contributed to the advancement of welfare for people with disabilities.
A total of 22 facilities, organizations, and related agencies for people with disabilities will participate, setting up experience booths in five areas: "audiovisual," "developmental," "physical," "association," and "event." Activities at these booths will include demonstrations of assistive devices, film screenings, mental health checkups, stress assessments, and dementia self-diagnosis experiences.
Meanwhile, starting this month, Jongno District is providing accident insurance for electric mobility devices to help residents with disabilities enjoy safer daily lives. This program supports insurance premiums for electric wheelchairs and electric scooters, aiming to reduce anxiety and financial burdens related to accidents.
Mayor Jung Moonheon stated, "We will continue our efforts to promote the rights of people with disabilities and to create a community where everyone can live well, regardless of disability." He added, "I hope many people will take interest in and participate in the carefully organized Eoulnurim Festival, which is designed to improve disability awareness and encourage rehabilitation."
