On this day, to mark the 55th Earth Day, candidate Lee announced climate and environmental policy pledges via social networking services (SNS), which included reducing greenhouse gas emissions, making Korea a leading country in plastic-free initiatives, and achieving skies free from fine dust.
Lee stated, "First, we will establish a national-level roadmap for going plastic-free," adding, "Just like 'Almaeng Store,' which sells only the essentials to reduce waste, we will support infrastructure for circular economy hubs that citizens voluntarily create."
He further added, "In the mid- to long-term, we will strategically foster the bioplastics industry and promote a resource-circulating economy in daily life by guaranteeing the 'right to repair' for consumers."
