Shinangun Public Officials Union: "We Will Relentlessly Punish Forces of Abuse, External Pressure, and Solicitation"

Doing Our Best to Wisely Overcome the Vacancy of the Governor
"We Will Safeguard the Safety and Well-Being of Residents"

The Jeonnam Shinangun Public Officials Labor Union (hereinafter referred to as Shingongno, chaired by Choi Seongeun) issued a statement on April 21, declaring that the union would take the lead in ensuring stable county administration alongside the residents, in light of the acting governor system following the vacancy of the Shinangun governor.

In the statement, the union first offered an apology to the residents for the current situation, in which public officials, as one of the pillars of county administration, must operate under the acting governor system for an extended period.

Shingongno stated, "Despite the difficult situation of having to run the county administration under an acting governor system for a long time, all public officials will do their utmost to work together with the acting governor of Shinangun to ensure that there is no neglect in improving the lives and welfare of residents, and to wisely overcome the period of vacancy in the governor's office."

In particular, the union emphasized, "Even in this crisis caused by the vacancy of the Shinangun governor, we will resolutely respond to any attempts to interfere in the executive branch’s exclusive authorities, such as personnel, budget, and contracts, as well as to any acts of abuse of power, external pressure, or solicitation that unfairly oppress or pressure the county executive branch and public officials."

Chairperson Choi Seongeun stated, "The majority of Shinangun public officials are quietly fulfilling their duties to safeguard the safety and well-being of residents," and added, "We ask for the continued cooperation, attention, and affection of the Shinangun residents."
