Incheon City has launched a response to minimize the damage to Incheon-based export companies resulting from US tariff policies.
On April 21, the city announced the formation of a "Joint Task Force (TF) for Emergency Response to US Trade Policy" together with seven organizations and groups: Incheon Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, Incheon Headquarters of the Small and Medium Business Corporation, KOTRA Incheon Support Headquarters, Incheon Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association, Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Incheon Technopark, and Incheon Economic Trend Analysis Center.
The Joint TF is headed by the Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Incheon City and consists of teams for trend analysis, tariff response, corporate support, and external cooperation. Going forward, the TF will monitor and analyze US tariff policies, identify difficulties faced by export companies, share the status of support programs, secure emergency funds, and make policy recommendations to the central government.

Despite the 90-day mutual tariff suspension implemented by the US administration, tariffs remain in place on Incheon's key export items such as automobiles and steel. As a result, the city has decided to focus on minimizing the impact on local companies exporting to the US.
The city will monitor the actual damage suffered by companies and plans to provide a total of 150 billion KRW in emergency management stabilization funds. The support will be extended not only to export companies that have suffered direct losses due to US tariffs but also to those affected indirectly.
Kim Jintae, Director General of the Economic and Industrial Bureau of Incheon City, stated, "As market uncertainty grows due to the imposition of US tariffs, we are closely monitoring global trade issues. Centered on the Joint TF, we will continue to visit companies on-site and regularly identify the difficulties faced by export companies to minimize their losses."
