Chosun University (President Kim Chunseong) announced on the 21st that students from the Department of Fire and Disaster Management and the Department of Police Administration won the silver prize and the encouragement prize, respectively, at the 14th Gwangju City General Public Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Competition.

Hosted by the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, this competition was organized not only as a contest but also as an opportunity to learn and share cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and to reflect on the value of life. Participants gave presentations on scenarios involving cardiac arrest and the appropriate rapid response actions.

The 'Chosun Fire Brigade' team, consisting of students from the Department of Fire and Disaster Management, presented a humorous play depicting a cardiac arrest situation that could occur in a campus cafe, under the theme "Cardiac Arrest Occurring in a Cafe."

The 'Heartbeat' team, made up mainly of students from the Department of Police Administration, delivered a performance emphasizing the importance of CPR education under the theme "Four Minutes Against Time."

Despite a short preparation period, both teams demonstrated outstanding stage presence and CPR response skills, earning the silver prize and the encouragement prize, respectively. The Department of Fire and Disaster Management continued its record by winning an award for the third consecutive year, while the Department of Police Administration achieved the remarkable feat of winning an award on its first participation.

Jung Jaeseong, a student from the 'Chosun Fire Brigade' team who participated in the competition, said, "By experiencing various cardiac arrest situations, I had the opportunity to learn practical CPR skills. I now feel confident that I can respond calmly if someone around me experiences cardiac arrest."

Chae Jieun, a student from the 'Heartbeat' team, commented, "Through this competition, I once again realized the importance of taking appropriate action within the 'golden four minutes.' I believe I will be able to act without hesitation if faced with a real-life situation."
