Eased Restrictions on Controlled Mountain Areas and Closed Hiking Trails
Changwon Special City has lifted the administrative order restricting activities for wildfire prevention and eased access restrictions to controlled mountain areas and closed hiking trails, following the adjustment of the national wildfire disaster crisis alert from "serious" to "caution."
Acting Mayor Jang Geumyong stated, "We are easing restrictions on access to controlled mountain areas and closed hiking trails to alleviate inconvenience for citizens and promote their health. However, caution is still necessary, as even a small spark can lead to a large wildfire during the spring season." He also urged citizens to actively cooperate by refraining from smoking or carrying flammable materials in forest areas, prohibiting the use of fire near forests and adjacent areas, and banning the burning of agricultural waste and other materials.
Meanwhile, Changwon City plans to mobilize all available personnel, including public officials, local village leaders, and community organizations, to strengthen guidance and enforcement for wildfire prevention so that not even small wildfires occur within its jurisdiction. The city also plans to impose strict administrative penalties on violators of related laws, such as those who engage in burning activities.
