Recruiting 15 Mentors and 15 Mentees Online
Guro District (District Mayor Jang Inhong) is recruiting mentors and mentees for the 7th round of its "Youth Peer Counseling (Mentoring) Program," which aims to support local youth preparing for employment, further education, or entrepreneurship.
Now in its seventh year, the Youth Peer Counseling (Mentoring) Program is designed to help young people about to enter society overcome the challenges they face in the process of seeking employment or choosing a career path. The program connects them with peer mentors who are of a similar age or have practical experience in their field of interest.
Mentors, who have already entered the workforce, provide advice based on their own experiences and knowledge. Through this, mentees can gain realistic insights and information about their areas of interest, making the program popular among young people.
This year, the program is recruiting a total of 30 participants: 15 mentors and 15 mentees.
Mentors and mentees will be matched one-on-one through a Focus Group Interview (FGI). In addition to at least one counseling (mentoring) session per month, participants can take part in various programs such as capacity-building education, mock interviews, and personal statement consulting.
Mentors must be young people aged 19 to 39 who either reside in Guro District or are active in the area, and who have up to five years of practical experience in fields such as information technology (IT), marketing and planning, arts and design, or accounting and management.
Any unemployed youth aged 19 to 39 residing in Guro District is eligible to apply as a mentee.
Applications for mentors can be submitted online via the QR code on the poster from April 21 to May 7, and applications for mentees are accepted from April 28 to May 26. For more details, visit the "Notices" section on the Guro District website or contact the Peer Mentoring Program Office.
Jang Inhong, Mayor of Guro District, stated, "By talking with peers who are currently working in the field, rather than worrying alone, young people can find direction for their previously vague career paths. We will continue to provide a variety of tailored support to offer practical help to young people."
