Review of Key Issues Including Strengthening Election Security and Stable Management of Assemblies
The Daegu Police Agency announced on April 18 that it held the "Reinvigorated Security Police, Refresh Workshop" at the Daegu Police Agency Muhakmaru, with about 70 participants, including heads and managers of security divisions from local police stations, riot squad commanders, and team leaders.
This workshop was organized to review key issues and to strengthen the capabilities of the security police.
During the workshop, a variety of topics were addressed, including commendations for outstanding performance, stable management of assemblies and demonstrations, ensuring public order during elections, personal protection for key figures, and securing public safety during disasters.
In particular, communication and discussion sessions were held among the city police agency, police stations, and the riot squad, and solutions to on-site issues were also explored.
Yang Youngwoo, Head of the Public Safety Division, emphasized, "The freedom of assembly will be guaranteed to the fullest extent, but any illegal acts will be dealt with fairly and consistently in accordance with the law and established principles." He also stressed, "Due to the nature of security duties, police officers dispatched to the field are exposed to various risks, so ensuring their personal safety is also extremely important."
He further requested, "This year, more than ever, all Daegu security police should make every effort to ensure a peaceful election environment so that citizens can participate in the election with peace of mind."
The Daegu Police Agency plans to continue providing ongoing education and training to not only strengthen public safety and security but also to enhance the on-site response capabilities of its officers through such workshops.
