Kim Du-kwan Announces Withdrawal from Presidential Race

Kim Du-kwan, former lawmaker who had expressed dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party's presidential primary rules and declared his refusal to participate in the race, has ultimately decided not to run for president.
On April 18, Kim announced on his Facebook page, "Although it is regrettable, my dream of becoming the 'Constitutional Amendment President Kim Du-kwan' with 'constitutional reform and the Seventh Republic' ends here."
Kim stated, "I will devote all my strength to ensuring the Democratic Party's victory in the presidential election," and added, "I bow my head in gratitude to everyone who has supported me thus far."
Previously, on April 14, Kim expressed his dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party's primary rules, criticizing that they were decided without consultation with the candidates, and declared his intention to refuse participation in the primary.
On April 16, Kim's camp officially announced that he had canceled all scheduled events and was considering various options, including not running for president and running as an independent candidate.
