Enhancing On-Site Adaptability of New Music Teachers

Chungnam Office of Education Holds Competency Training for Secondary Music Teachers New Music Teacher Training Workshop Held on Enhancing the Competencies of Future Music Teachers Leading Emotional Education

The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education held a competency enhancement training program for new secondary music teachers over two days, April 18 and 19, at the Marine Training Center to strengthen their teaching capabilities.

The training, held under the theme "Enhancing the Teaching Competencies of Future Music Teachers Leading Emotional Education," aimed to help music teachers improve their expertise so they can effectively utilize advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and edutech in a rapidly changing educational environment, as well as support the emotional growth of students.

The program featured a diverse range of sessions that bridged theory and practice, including: music classes integrating generative AI and global citizenship education; creating original songs and album designs using generative AI to tell personal stories; case studies of music classes focused on practical performance activities; a special lecture by a principal with 35 years of experience in music education; hands-on band ensemble sound engineering; and making musical storybooks with AI.

The Provincial Office of Education expects that this training will not only enhance the teaching and learning guidance skills and subject research expertise of new music teachers, but also foster future-oriented career planning abilities through in-depth exchanges with mentor teachers. The training is also anticipated to significantly improve teachers' adaptability to the school environment by providing practical subject-related knowledge and implementation strategies.

Kim Heungje, Director of Secondary Education at the Provincial Office of Education, stated, "We will actively develop and support innovative teaching models in culture and arts education, promote a culture of sharing lessons that encourages continuous change and growth among teachers, and take an active role in enhancing the professionalism of arts educators."
