The inspection, conducted with the participation of the city's railway and safety departments as well as private experts, aimed to verify the overall safety management status of the construction site and focus on eliminating safety blind spots within the site.
The city stated that during the inspection, they visited construction sites applying methods involving underground tunnel excavation to confirm safety factors ensuring there is no risk of subsidence or collapse due to weakening of the surrounding ground.
During the inspection period, Mayor Lee Min-geun of Ansan also visited the Sinansanseon construction site, inspecting inside the tunnel and around structures to review the impact of groundwater leakage on ground subsidence, displacement and cracks in underground structures, and ground stability.
Following this special inspection, the city plans to thoroughly manage the construction site in cooperation with related organizations such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Rail Network Authority, the Seoul Regional Land Management Office, and construction companies. The city also intends to continuously provide safety information about the construction site to alleviate citizens' concerns.
Mayor Lee said, "We will leave no room for negligence and will meticulously and thoroughly inspect even the smallest cracks to ensure the safety of our citizens."
