Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) will hold the '4th Gyeongsangbuk-do Future Education Committee Member Appointment Ceremony and the 2025 1st Regular Meeting' at 2:00 PM on the 18th at Stanford Hotel Andong in Andong City.
The Gyeongsangbuk-do Future Education Committee is an organization that deliberates on matters related to the establishment of mid- to long-term plans for future education policies and educational development. The 4th committee consists of 28 members, including 24 external and 4 internal members, with a term lasting until March 2027. Members include figures from the education sector, academia, and various experts, ensuring that voices from the field are reflected in policy-making.
The event will begin with the appointment ceremony for the 24 newly appointed members, followed by the election of the chairperson and vice-chairperson, and then discussions on major policy directions. In particular, to seek solutions to the significant issue of declining school-age population, the committee will break away from the traditional one-way reporting format and instead be divided into four groups for active discussions among members to find practical alternatives.
During the group discussions, in-depth debates will be held on changes in the educational environment due to the declining school-age population, regional extinction response strategies, and the direction of future education. Each group representative will share the results, leading to effective policy discussions based on collective intelligence.
Meanwhile, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Future Education Committee has been carrying out its mission of drawing the blueprint for the future of education in Gyeongbuk by holding regular annual meetings to discuss major future education policies and present mid- to long-term directions for Gyeongbuk education since its establishment by ordinance in February 2019.
Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, "In this rapidly changing educational environment, I hope the Gyeongsangbuk-do Future Education Committee will deeply consider the direction Gyeongbuk education should take so that our children can acquire future competencies, and propose creative and effective policies."
