Maintaining a Firm Uptrend Supported by Individual Net Buying
The KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices started slightly higher. Despite net selling by foreigners and institutions, individual investors' buying pressure is supporting the indices.
On the 18th, the KOSPI opened slightly higher at 2473.30, up 0.12% from the previous day. As of 9:18 a.m., it recorded 2474.23.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions net sold 77.1 billion KRW and 37.5 billion KRW respectively. Individuals net bought 116.2 billion KRW.
By sector, the transportation and warehousing sector showed the largest gain of 2.75%. This was followed by machinery and equipment (1.32%), non-metallic minerals (0.50%), and transportation equipment and parts (0.49%). Electricity and gas (-0.71%) and medical and precision instruments (-0.68%) declined.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, Hanwha Aerospace rose the most by 2.8%. Kia (0.2%), Hyundai Motor (0.2%), and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (0.2%) also increased. Celltrion (-1.1%), SK Hynix (-0.8%), and Samsung Biologics (-0.1%) declined. Samsung Electronics, LG Energy Solution, and KB Financial showed unchanged prices from the previous day.
The KOSDAQ also started trading up 0.25% at 713.52. As of 9:18 a.m., it stood at 712.84, remaining slightly higher.
In the KOSDAQ market, net selling by foreigners and institutions appeared from early in the session. They net sold 78.6 billion KRW and 21.8 billion KRW respectively. Only individuals net bought 108.4 billion KRW.
The ratio of rising to falling sectors was similar. The entertainment and culture sector showed the largest gain of 2.71%, followed by general services (1.74%), construction (1.15%), and publishing and media replication (0.67%). Textile and apparel (-0.72%) and medical and precision instruments (-0.45%) declined.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, more stocks declined. HLB (-1.9%), Classys (-1.2%), EcoPro BM (-0.9%), Hugel (-0.8%), Rainbow Robotics (-0.8%), and EcoPro (-0.6%) showed significant declines. However, Peptron (8.0%), Alteogen (3.5%), Rigachem Bio (0.3%), and PharmaResearch (0.1%) rose.
