Flights to Island Regions Expected to Improve Air Service Convenience for Ulsan Citizens
Ulsan City is joining hands with Korea Airports Corporation and Seom Air to enhance air services and revitalize Ulsan Airport by launching a new route between Ulsan Airport and Ulleung Airport.
On the 18th at 11 a.m., Ulsan City will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "Revitalization of Ulsan Airport and Improvement of Air Services" in the mayor's office on the 7th floor of the main building, with Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Seom Air CEO Choi Yong-deok, Ulsan Airport Director of Korea Airports Corporation Kim Dong-woo, and about 10 others in attendance.
According to this agreement, ▲Ulsan City will provide administrative and financial support for Seom Air's operations and devise various policies to boost demand for the flight routes.
▲Korea Airports Corporation will provide related facilities and promote airport facility improvements so that Seom Air can maintain continuous operations at Ulsan Airport.
▲Seom Air promises to actively launch new routes such as Ulsan-Ulleung, Ulsan-Gimpo, and Ulsan-Jeju to improve air transportation convenience for Ulsan citizens.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, "This agreement is significant as it greatly enhances accessibility for Ulsan citizens visiting island regions such as Ulleungdo and Baengnyeongdo, and encourages tourists from nearby areas to use Ulsan Airport, thereby revitalizing the airport. We will continue to do our best to make Ulsan Airport more convenient and safe for citizens and to contribute to the local economy."
Seom Air is a newly established small-scale air transport operator founded on November 17, 2022, with the goal of building an air network connecting small island airports and inland areas, in line with the opening of Ulleung Airport (2028) and Baengnyeong Airport (2030).
