The Financial Security Institute announced on the 17th that it has published the 'Digital Finance Insight for the First Half of 2025' to provide an in-depth outlook on the future of digital finance, including financial security, amid the rapidly changing financial IT environment.

Financial Security Institute Publishes Analytical Report on AI and Virtual Assets

This first half edition focused on artificial intelligence (AI), digital assets, and zero trust, which have recently emerged as key topics in the financial sector. It presented domestic and international policy trends, implications, technical considerations, and proposed effective response strategies for the financial industry.

Regarding AI technology, the report analyzed the world's first AI regulatory law, the EU AI Act, and Korea's Basic AI Act, sharing information exchange, joint research and development, and exemplary regulatory cases among countries.

In line with the government's second phase of virtual asset legislation discussions, the report also proposed measures to create a safe digital asset environment by differentiating regulatory levels according to types of virtual assets, such as security tokens and stablecoins.

Additionally, to facilitate the introduction of zero trust in the financial sector, which has gained attention due to the relaxation of network separation regulations, the report presented a zero trust transition framework and evaluation criteria. Zero trust is a network security model that treats any device, user, or network as untrusted and handles them as potential threat elements.

Park Sang-won, President of the Financial Security Institute, stated, "This report was published to help financial companies deeply understand the latest issues and gain various insights amid the rapidly changing digital finance environment." He added, "We will continue steady research on digital finance to support safe and sustainable digital innovation for financial companies."
