"Filling Care Gaps Thoroughly"... Incheon City Promotes Four Projects Including 'Onmaeul Care'

Incheon City is set to fully launch the 'i Plus Gilreodream' project, a tangible policy that tightly fills the care gaps. The project is divided into four areas: 'Whole Village Care,' 'All-day Care,' 'Complete Care,' and 'Warm Care,' with 31 detailed tasks to be implemented.

First, by linking community resources, the city will carry out the 'Whole Village Care' project, where the entire village collectively cares for children. In cooperation with the Incheon branch of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), the city plans to secure care spaces within apartment complexes of over 500 households and discover idle spaces to establish care infrastructure. This year, 51 locations will be expanded, followed by 67 locations next year.

In the 'All-day Care' sector, the operating hours of care institutions will be extended from early morning to late evening and Saturdays to provide thorough gap care.

To enable care even in emergencies such as sudden illnesses, newly established Dahamkke Care Centers will include rest spaces for sick children. Additionally, the safe transportation service will be expanded to ensure children using care institutions can travel safely from school to the institution and home.

'Complete Care' is a policy aimed at improving the quality of care, including the care environment and programs. Efforts will be made to improve the indoor environment of care institutions with eco-friendly products, hold contests and share excellent programs, and support visiting science programs in collaboration with the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Incheon National University (Science Gifted Education Research Institute).

'Warm Care' provides free lunch to children using Dahamkke Care Centers during school vacations to minimize care gaps for dual-income families. The city also plans to discover 'i Onbap Restaurant,' which offers meals priced at the school meal unit cost (9,500 KRW), to provide children with high-quality meals.

On the 17th, Ha Byung-pil, Deputy Mayor of Incheon, held a Child Care Council meeting and said, "We will build a dense gap care network so that children in need of care can always be safely protected, helping guardians balance work and family life."
