Busan Gijang County Launches One-on-One Breastfeeding Coaching Class for Mothers

1:1 Breastfeeding Expert Coaching
A Signature Program of Gijang-gun Health Center for Seven Consecutive Years

Gijang-gun (Governor: Jung Jongbok) will operate the "2025 1:1 Breastfeeding Coaching Class" at the county health center until December.

This program provides practical solutions through customized, consultation-focused coaching for mothers experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding after childbirth. Now in its seventh year since 2018, it has established itself as a representative maternal support program at the Gijang-gun Health Center.

The program offers "customized guidance" to mothers facing various issues such as blocked milk ducts, breastfeeding posture, breastfeeding pain, insufficient milk supply, and weak sucking power in babies, resulting in high satisfaction among participants.

This year, the program will be held a total of 22 times from February to December at both Gijang-gun Health Center and Jeonggwan Health Branch. Each mother will be allocated 30 minutes of individual time, allowing for more professional and attentive guidance.

The program is offered completely free of charge, and mothers who wish to participate can register on a first-come, first-served basis by calling the Maternal and Child Health Office at Jeonggwan Health Branch.

An official from Gijang-gun Health Center stated, "Not only first-time mothers but also experienced mothers often encounter unexpected problems during breastfeeding," and added, "Based on the experience and expertise we have accumulated over the past seven years, we will do our best to provide practical solutions to each mother's concerns."

Breastfeeding is well known for strengthening a baby's immunity and promoting growth and development, while also aiding postpartum recovery and helping prevent breast and ovarian cancer in mothers. Accordingly, the World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life.
