Experience Booths Featuring Durup Pickle Making and More
The first Sunchang Chamdurup Journey Festival will be held from the 18th to the 19th at the Yangjicheon area in Sunchang-gun, North Jeolla Province.
According to the county on the 17th, this event is a festival that combines food, experiences, and culture centered around "Chamdurup," a spring vegetable representing Sunchang. It is expected to be a great opportunity to fully experience the charm of Sunchang's nature and local agricultural products.
This festival is co-hosted by Sunchang-gun and Sunchang Nonghyup, with about 30 organizations participating, including Donggye, Seosunchang, and Gurim Nonghyup, Sunchang Agricultural Corporation, and the Livestock Cooperative, all working together to prepare the event. It is expected to not only increase local farmers' income but also further enhance the brand value of Sunchang.
The main highlight is the "Durup Food Market." Menus such as wild vegetable bibimbap, durup pancakes, durup muchim, and durup fries will tempt visitors' palates with the true taste of spring.
The event will also feature experience booths where families can enjoy making durup pickles, making mugwort rice cakes, and durup coloring activities together.
In addition, busking performances will add to the springtime atmosphere throughout the two days of the event. Various artists such as Park Hyungju, Baek Sunhye, Phoenix Band, and Hello Yugiong will participate to enhance the festive mood.
As an eco-friendly festival, reusable containers will be used at the food booths, and a special event will be held where visitors who purchase over 30,000 won will receive spring vegetables worth 8,000 won, further increasing visitor satisfaction.
Choi Youngil, the county governor, said, "The Sunchang Chamdurup Journey is a precious festival that announces the arrival of spring in Sunchang, and I expect it to be an enjoyable spring outing for both residents and visitors. I hope you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of Yangjicheon, taste Sunchang's healthy food, and experience the charm of Sunchang through various activities."
Meanwhile, the "Chamdurup Journey" festival, held for the first time this year, will take place on the same day as the 63rd County Residents' Day and the 14th Gugok Sundam Baeksein Banquet, establishing itself as a festival where visitors can enjoy even more attractions and the warm spirit of the local community.
