"A Glass Costs 4.2 Million Won, but It's Sold Out"…Whisky Craze Right After Launch

Bushmills '46 Years - Secret of River Bush' Sold Out Immediately After Release Despite Price Tag of 17.71 Million Won
Now Being Sold for $2,980 Per Glass at Select Hotels
"Distinctive for Its Sweet Caramel Aroma and Smoothness"

Only 300 bottles of the 'limited edition whiskey' produced worldwide sold out immediately after its release and is now reportedly being sold at some hotels for over 4 million won per glass.

According to the New York Post on the 16th (local time), last month Irish distillery Bushmills released a 46-year-old whiskey, 'Bushmills 46 Years - Secret of River Bush,' limited to 300 bottles at $12,500 (approximately 17.71 million won). This whiskey is known as the oldest Irish single malt whiskey ever sold, and all 300 bottles were sold out as soon as it was released, making it currently unavailable.

'Malt whiskey' refers to whiskey distilled using 100% barley (malt), and among them, those produced at a single distillery are called 'single malt whiskey.' Although this whiskey sold out quickly, it is still available for order at some hotels in New York at a price of $2,980 (approximately 4.22 million won) per glass, excluding tax and tip.

After tasting the whiskey, the media described it as "having a caramel aroma and surprisingly smooth." They also said, "It has a chocolate scent," "It opens your eyes wide," and "It does not sting the throat but the intense aroma of alcohol instantly awakens the mind." The media added, "When compared coldly, the price of a glass of this drink is more expensive than staying one night in a suite on the upper floor of an expensive hotel," but concluded, "If someone else pays, I would order it without hesitation."

The hotel selling this whiskey announced last month that they added a 2-ounce (about 59 ml) glass of this limited edition whiskey to their menu. The whiskey is reportedly securely stored with a lock in the hotel's office. It will be sold only until the remaining quantity is depleted. Currently, only about 11 glasses remain, increasing its rarity. The media advised, "If you want to enjoy it a bit cheaper, look for other hotels," noting that some places sell it for $1,250 (approximately 1.77 million won) or $1,400 (approximately 1.98 million won) per glass.
