According to witnesses at the scene, the man also assaulted his friend who tried to stop his rampage. Some people began recording the incident on their smartphones. Upon seeing this, the man reportedly shouted, "I'm American! Record it, record it!" The video quickly spread on social media platforms. In the footage, he can be seen shouting loudly. While the man was causing the disturbance, hospital staff evacuated other patients safely outside in case the situation escalated.
Local authorities arrived after hearing about the disturbance, arrested the man, and charged him with property damage. A drug test was conducted, which revealed the presence of THC, a component of marijuana, and cocaine in his system. It was reported that he had used these substances a few days prior to the incident. However, no drugs were found among his possessions at the time of arrest, making criminal charges for drug possession impossible. Local police stated, "Although the test results confirmed past drug use, without physical evidence, drug charges cannot be applied."

As the video of the man's disturbance spread online and sparked controversy, Wayan Koster, Governor of Bali, emphasized, "Bali welcomes tourists from all over the world, but everyone must respect the country's laws, customs, and cultural values," adding, "Acts that threaten public order cannot be tolerated."
