Practical Policies to Be Implemented, Including Parking and Transportation Convenience, and Support for Small Business Owners and Self-Employed
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) conducted the '2025 Mapo-gu District Administration and Policy Public Opinion Survey' to reflect residents' opinions on district administration and major policies and to promote effective policies.
The survey was conducted last month targeting adult men and women aged 18 and over residing in Mapo-gu through the public opinion research agency (Taegil Giyeon) to seek solutions for revitalizing local commercial districts and creating jobs.
The survey items included a total of eight categories such as awareness of district administration, commercial district revitalization, and youth employment, conducted via ARS phone calls and mobile text messages.
Among the district administration achievements, the policy areas with the highest satisfaction were transportation and safety (25.8%), culture and tourism (20.5%), welfare (19.8%), and green spaces and environment (16.3%), in that order.
On the other hand, the policy areas that should be prioritized going forward were welfare (26.1%), economy and jobs (22.3%), housing and urban development (19.6%), and culture and tourism (11.2%), respectively.
When asked to what extent they think Mapo-gu's commercial districts are revitalized, 90.6% (including average responses) answered positively that they are revitalized.
Next, the areas that should be focused on to revitalize commercial districts were parking and transportation convenience (33.3%), support for small business owners and self-employed (29.8%), strengthening local shops and promotions (15.8%), and creating specialized commercial streets and festivals (15.1%), in that order.
Regarding the operation of the Mapo Circulation Train Bus, which is promoted to revitalize alleyway commercial districts, 78.4% of respondents positively (including average responses) evaluated the item asking how much the tour bus linking local commercial districts and tourist sites and the mobile app providing convenience for commercial district use help revitalize the commercial districts.
Also, concerning youth employment, 86.4% (including average responses) positively evaluated the question asking whether the environment is good for young people to start businesses.
The places most helpful for obtaining youth employment information were the Mapo Youth Startup and Employment Support Center (35.1%), job fairs (24.5%), and official YouTube/SNS (18.5%), respectively.
The most important factors for creating youth jobs were education and training such as special lectures on employment and entrepreneurship (23.9%), attracting and supporting companies (23.7%), and support for job-seeking activities and startup costs (21.0%).
Based on this public opinion survey, Mapo-gu plans to implement practical policies for revitalizing commercial districts and youth employment, including operating the Mapo Circulation Train Bus, parking and transportation, and support for small business owners and self-employed individuals.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "Revitalizing Mapo-gu's commercial districts and youth employment are ultimately issues directly connected to residents' lives," adding, "We will do our best to implement policies that residents can feel through operating the Mapo Circulation Train Bus for alleyway commercial district revitalization and various support projects for youth job seekers' employment and entrepreneurship."
