Gwangsan-gu Council in Gwangju Marks 34th Anniversary... "A Pillar for the People"

Gwangsan District Council in Gwangju celebrated its 34th anniversary. On the 16th, the council held a commemorative event in the main assembly hall, reflecting on 34 years of legislative activities and renewing its original commitment.


Since its inaugural session in 1991, the Gwangsan District Council is now in its ninth term. During the ceremony, the council emphasized that it was "an occasion to reconsider the role of the council in regional development and the happiness of residents."

More than 100 people attended the event, including Chairman Kim Myungsoo, former council members, Gwangsan District Mayor Park Byungkyu, Gwangsan Fire Station Chief Kim Kwanho, Gwangju Immigration Office Chief Gil Kangmook, Gwangsan Tax Office Chief Kang Byungsoo, and Gwangju City Council members Choi Jihyun, Park Pilsun, Park Sugi, Lee Gwisoon, and Jung Moochang.


The ceremony began with a video screening, followed by a moment of silence for the victims of the Sewol ferry disaster, a commemorative speech by Chairman Kim, congratulatory remarks, and awards for distinguished service.


The video featured the activities of the ninth-term council members, who have addressed local issues, as well as their aspirations for the future.


In his commemorative speech, Chairman Kim expressed gratitude to the citizens who have helped Gwangsan District Council lay the foundation for true democracy and local autonomy, stating, "We will continue to fulfill our mission as a pillar of the people's livelihood and as a partner in the district's development."
