Hyundai Steel Obtains Quality Certification from US Nuclear Material Supplier

Promoting Expansion of Orders for Domestic and International Nuclear Projects

Hyundai Steel announced on the 16th that its nuclear steel has obtained the Quality Supplier Certification (QSC) for nuclear materials from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

ASME is a global certification body that evaluates the quality assurance system of materials and components used in nuclear power plants and related industries. It strictly reviews whether safety standards of the nuclear industry are met before granting the QSC. The company explained that this certification recognizes that its rebar, structural steel, and heavy plates meet the quality requirements of the global nuclear industry. It also expects to enhance its brand awareness in the global market through this achievement.

Based on this certification and its accumulated experience in nuclear power plant projects, Hyundai Steel plans to expand its orders for nuclear-related businesses both domestically and internationally. Hyundai Steel has supplied products to major domestic nuclear power plants such as Shin-Kori Units 1 and 2, Shin-Wolsong Units 1 and 2, and Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6, and has also built overseas supply records through the Barakah nuclear power plant project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2011.

A Hyundai Steel official stated, "With the acquisition of the ASME QSC, we will take the lead in supplying nuclear steel recognized for safety through thorough quality control and continuous technological development."
