Connecting Libraries, Sports Facilities, and Community Centers
Pilot Operation This Year, Official Launch in January Next Year
Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) is improving the currently individually operated public facility shuttle bus routes by integrating them to make it more convenient for residents to use.
On the 16th, Jung-gu announced that it will integrate the shuttle buses currently operated individually at Chungmu Sports Center, Hoehyeon Sports Center, Son Ki-jeong Sports Center, and Jung-gu Youth Center into a single system to create a "resident-friendly route network" that organically connects public facilities.
Once the integrated operation is implemented, residents will be able to use public facilities within Jung-gu, such as libraries, sports facilities, Namsan footpath forest, health centers, and community service centers, more conveniently.
To this end, the district has announced the legislative notice for the "Ordinance on the Operation of Public Facility Shuttle Buses in Jung-gu, Seoul" starting from the 8th and will accept opinions until the 28th of this month. After completing related procedures such as enacting the ordinance, the district plans to conduct a pilot operation from September to December this year. Through the pilot operation, user satisfaction will be analyzed and shortcomings will be addressed before the official operation begins in January next year.
The district will design highly effective routes by analyzing residents' opinions and usage data for each facility, and finalize the route plan through the Route Adjustment Committee in June. Afterward, the installation of major stops, vehicle exterior design, and system construction will be completed by August.
The integrated shuttle bus will use 25-seat vehicles and will be free of charge for not only Jung-gu residents but also anyone visiting public facilities in Jung-gu. Additionally, a dedicated app will be developed to issue boarding passes using QR codes. Separate authentication procedures will also be implemented for digital vulnerable groups, such as the elderly who are not familiar with digital devices, to ensure convenient use for everyone.
Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, "We will carefully prepare to realize 'life-close transportation welfare' where residents can feel 'My Jung-gu' in their daily lives."
