Gwangju Gwangsan District Council Launches Seven Research Groups

Formation of Groups for Greenways, Childcare, Gender, and More
Full-scale Policy Research to Continue for Nine Months

Gwangsan District Council in Gwangju announced on the 16th that it has completed the formation of seven council member research groups that will be active this year.


The research groups are as follows: ▲Gwangsan-gu Green Road Creation Research Group (led by Park Hyunseok) ▲Smart Urban Planning Research Group (led by Kim Taewan) ▲Well-aging Research Group (led by Guk Kanghyun) ▲Low Birthrate and Childcare Improvement Research Group (led by Kim Eunjung) ▲Fun City & Enjoy Gwangsan (led by Gong Byeongcheol) ▲Gender Governance Forum (led by Jo Youngim) ▲Urban Design Research Group (led by Park Haewon).

The Green Road Research Group will focus on creating greenways along the railway, while the Smart Urban Planning Research Group will explore policies based on convergence and integrated infrastructure. The Well-aging Research Group will study responses to an aging society, and the Childcare Improvement Research Group will research measures to address low birthrates by reflecting the voices of parents.


Additionally, the Fun City Research Group aims to create an urban environment that citizens can enjoy, the Gender Governance Forum seeks to establish gender equality policies and systems, and the Urban Design Research Group will look for ways to utilize idle spaces and improve urban aesthetics.


The research groups will be active for nine months until the end of the year, continuing to propose policies and discover legislative initiatives. Chairperson Kim Myungsoo stated, "We will enhance the quality of life for residents with practical policies connected to the field."
