The KOSPI index closed higher, supported by institutional buying.
On the 15th, the KOSPI index closed at 2477.41, up 21.52 points (0.88%) from the previous day. The trading volume was 550.72 million shares, and the trading value was tentatively estimated at 6.4064 trillion won.
By investor type, institutions were net buyers with 182.8 billion won, while foreigners and individuals were net sellers with 118.2 billion won and 148.9 billion won, respectively. In the futures market, institutions and individuals were net sellers with 378.2 billion won and 103.8 billion won, respectively, whereas foreigners were net buyers with 502.2 billion won. Program trading saw net selling of 36.9 billion won in arbitrage trading and 54.1 billion won in non-arbitrage trading.
More sectors rose than fell. The electric and gas sector rose 2.47%, machinery equipment 2.35%, securities 1.76%, finance 1.5%, transportation equipment 1.41%, distribution 1.39%, construction 1.37%, insurance 1.35%, food, beverage and tobacco 1.27%, real estate 1.24%, textiles and apparel 1.09%, metals 1.04%, entertainment and culture 0.79%, paper and wood 0.78%, manufacturing 0.75%, and electrical and electronics 0.75%. Meanwhile, the pharmaceutical sector fell 1.22%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, more rose than fell. Samsung Electronics rose 0.71%, SK Hynix 0.22%, LG Energy Solution 0.58%, Hyundai Motor 4.29%, Kia 3.37%, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries 1.73%. On the other hand, Samsung Biologics fell 0.39%, Hanwha Aerospace -2.65%, and Celltrion -2.26% declined.
There were 709 advancing stocks, 181 declining stocks, and 45 stocks unchanged. Four stocks hit the upper price limit.
The KOSDAQ index also closed higher. On the day, the KOSDAQ index closed at 711.92, up 2.94 points (0.41%) from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners were net sellers with 41.1 billion won and 69.8 billion won, respectively, while individuals were net buyers with 119.1 billion won.
Top market capitalization stocks showed mixed movements. HLB rose 2.46%, Rainbow Robotics 0.18%, Kolon TissueGene 3.03%, Pharma Research 0.14%, Samchundang Pharm 1.49%, and ABL Bio 2.89%. Meanwhile, Alteogen fell 1.81%, EcoPro BM -1.77%, EcoPro -2.73%, Hugel -4.62%, Classys -0.49%, and Rigachem Bio -1.26% declined.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate is trading at 1425.6 won, up 3.0 won from the previous day.
