Honam University announced on the 15th that students from the Department of Aviation Service (Head of Department: Jin Kyungmi) won the gold prize at the 14th Gwangju Metropolitan City CPR Competition for the General Public.


On the 11th, at the competition held in the main auditorium of the National Gwangju Museum and hosted by the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, seven students?Noh Yerim, Kang Jiwan, Kim Sooyoung, Choi Minhyeok, Jeon Minjoo, Park Seol, and Choi Jeongwoo?formed the team 'SKY MATE' and were evaluated on scenario writing, CPR procedures and methods, as well as the use and application of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).


The 'CPR Competition for the General Public' is held with the aim of increasing the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients by utilizing skills learned through intensive training over a short preparation period.


Based on the knowledge gained from their 'Aviation Safety Class,' the students prepared for one month together with staff from the Northern Fire Station, and as a result, won the gold prize among the seven participating teams.


Park Seol, a student who participated in this competition, said, "By participating in the CPR competition, I was able to once again recognize the importance of safety, and it was a meaningful experience that allowed me to foster teamwork with my fellow students."
