A Total Project Cost of 14.37 Billion KRW by 2026
Sanbuk Urban Regeneration New Deal Project to Cover 111,048 Square Meters
Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 15th that it has broken ground on the "Exterior Home Repair Support Project" being promoted in the "Saemnae Village" within the Sanbuk Urban Regeneration Activation Area, marking the official start of improvements to aging residential areas.
This project supports the renovation of old houses so that residents can live in a more comfortable and safe environment, aiming not only for practical improvements in the residential environment but also for regional landscape maintenance and enhancement of quality of life.
The support targets detached and multi-family houses, as well as multi-unit and row houses that have been approved for use for more than 20 years. The main repair scope includes ▲roofs and rooftops (insulation, waterproofing, roof finishing), ▲exterior walls (painting, insulation), ▲shared entrances, ▲gates, fences, yards, and other outdoor spaces.
To this end, the city conducted a comprehensive diagnosis of structural safety, facilities, and finishing conditions through a "Home Repair Inspection Team" composed of architecture and design experts.
After a selection committee review, a total of about 150 households in 17 buildings were confirmed as priority support targets, and from this month, customized home repairs such as rooftop waterproofing, exterior wall painting, and shared entrance maintenance will be carried out sequentially according to each household's situation.
A Yangju City official said, "We hope this project will be a valuable step toward becoming a 'livable village' where residents want to stay and live together with neighbors, beyond simple home repairs," adding, "Since this is a project with high resident awareness and satisfaction, we will proceed quickly and carefully."
Meanwhile, the city was selected in December 2022 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and is currently promoting the "Sanbuk Urban Regeneration New Deal Project," an urban regeneration activation project covering 111,048㎡ with a total project cost of 14.37 billion KRW until 2026.
In "Saemnae Village," basic living infrastructure such as the maintenance of the Jungnangcheon deck road, improvement of safety and convenience facilities, and creation of safe school routes have been maintained, while community programs and education have been conducted to lay the foundation for urban regeneration.
Yangju City expects that this exterior home repair support project will serve as a model case of sustainable urban regeneration led by residents and centered on the local community in "Saemnae Village."
