Ten Members Including City Councilors, Accountants, and Tax Accountants Appointed

The Gwangju City Council (Chairperson Shin Sujeong) held an appointment ceremony for the 2024 fiscal year settlement inspection committee at the Open Citizen Hall of the City Council on the 14th, targeting Gwangju City and the Gwangju City Office of Education.
The appointed settlement inspection committee consists of a total of 10 members: 3 city council members, 3 certified public accountants, 2 tax accountants, 1 former public official, and 1 member recommended by a civic organization. Council member Kim Nayun was designated as the representative committee member.
The settlement inspection is a financial supervision system based on the Local Autonomy Act and the Local Accounting Act, which examines whether the budget was executed according to its intended purpose and aims to improve budget formulation and fiscal management for the following year.
The 2024 fiscal year settlement inspection will be conducted for 20 days until the 3rd of next month. The committee members will review the appropriateness of financial operations and the efficiency of budget execution, including the settlement of revenues and expenditures of the executive agencies, financial statements, and the implementation status of corrective actions regarding issues pointed out during the previous year’s inspection.
At the appointment ceremony, Chairperson Shin Sujeong requested, "In consideration of the difficult financial environment, I ask you to thoroughly examine whether the 2024 budget was used appropriately."
