Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 14th that it visited its sister city, Yeongyang County, Gyeongbuk Province, on the 13th to deliver 134 million KRW in donations for wildfire damage recovery, supporting the affected residents in restoring their daily lives.

This donation was raised through the collective efforts of Hanam City Hall, related organizations within the city, and civil society, embodying the community’s solidarity and desire to convey warm comfort and encouragement to residents facing difficulties.
The fundraising involved a total of 30 organizations and individuals, including Hanam City Hall, ▲ Hanam Fire Station Fire Policy Advisory Committee ▲ Hanam YWCA ▲ Hanam Internationalization Promotion Council ▲ Hanam City Daycare Center Association ▲ Korea Forest Kindergarten Association Gyeonggi Branch Hanam Chapter ▲ Hanam City Entrepreneurs Association ▲ Volunteer Organizations Council ▲ Hanam City Community Leaders Council ▲ Hanam Citizens Association ▲ Misa Paragon Apartment ▲ and related organizations from Misa 1-dong and Sinjang 2-dong.
Donations from some organizations and citizens are still being accepted and will be additionally delivered to Yeongyang County in the future.
Yeongyang County suffered extensive damage from the wildfire, with approximately 5,070 hectares of forest destroyed, damage to 110 households, and 134 displaced residents. Hanam City has recognized the severity of this damage and, as a sister city, promptly sought practical support measures, leading to this visit.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae stated, "It is a natural duty to stand with our sister city Yeongyang County in their hardship. I thank all the citizens who voluntarily participated in the fundraising, and I hope that the sincerity we gathered together will bring comfort and hope to the affected residents."
Meanwhile, since establishing their sister city relationship in September 2024, Hanam City and Yeongyang County have continued various exchange activities such as agricultural specialty product sales events. Hanam City plans to actively engage in joint development and crisis response based on mutual cooperation and solidarity between local governments.
