Goryeong County Wins Grand Prize in Gyeongbuk Provincial Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation

Awarded for Two Consecutive Years Following Last Year's Excellence Award

Goryeong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province (Governor: Lee Namcheol), announced on the 14th that it has received the Grand Prize in the "2025 Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation" organized by North Gyeongsang Province, earning an institutional commendation and a reward of 15 million KRW.

This marks the second consecutive year the county has been awarded, following last year's Excellence Award, and it is the first time to receive the Grand Prize since the inception of the Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation.

The Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation assesses the overall tax administration work carried out in the previous year, targeting 22 cities and counties in the province. The evaluation covers 24 items across five categories: local tax imposition and collection, management of non-tax revenue, delinquent tax resolution, local tax relief, and a point deduction/addition system.

The county achieved outstanding results across all evaluation items, particularly excelling in the area of delinquent tax resolution by actively utilizing specific financial transaction information (FIU information) from the Financial Intelligence Unit. As a result, the county collected 890 million KRW out of 1.4 billion KRW in delinquent taxes last year (a collection rate of 63.9%, the highest in the province).

Bae Youngsik, Director of the Finance Division, stated, "Winning the Grand Prize following last year's Excellence Award is the result of all staff members doing their utmost in their respective duties and is thanks to the diligent tax-paying spirit of our residents. We will continue to do our best to expand local finances through thorough tax source management and to operate a tax administration that satisfies our residents."
