Labor Attorney Popup Counseling Center for Gapjil Victims
Now Open Twice a Month with In-Person Consultations by External Experts
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) began operating the "Labor Attorney Popup Counseling Center" with external experts starting from the 11th, to support the reporting of Gapjil (abuse of power) and provide counseling for victims.
The "Labor Attorney Popup Counseling Center" is held in the form of a popup counseling center on the second and fourth Fridays of every month, where labor attorneys provide in-person counseling for victims of Gapjil.
At the stage of reporting and counseling for Gapjil, the expertise of labor attorneys is utilized to support the complex diagnosis of such cases. The introduction of external expert (labor attorney) counseling reflects the agenda of collective bargaining with the Public Officials Labor Union and the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union (JeonGyoJo).
To eradicate and prevent Gapjil, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Audit Office) has been consistently collaborating with groups of experts such as labor attorneys.
In addition to operating the "Labor Attorney Popup Counseling Center" at the reporting and counseling stage, the office also plans to protect and support victims during the fact-finding stage through professional counseling by labor attorneys. The participation of external experts (labor attorneys) at the disciplinary action stage is also expected to further enhance the professionalism in determining Gapjil cases.
Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "Collaboration with external experts such as labor attorneys in the area of Gapjil will serve as a good example for fostering a democratic culture in the workplace," and added, "We will continue to implement support policies for victims of Gapjil."
