Jeon Jae-su "Not Running for President... Will Do My Best for Democratic Party's Choice"

Former Lawmaker Jeon:
"Democratic Party's Rise to Power
is the Path to a Stronger Democracy"

Jeon Jae-su, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who was considered a potential presidential candidate, announced on the 13th that he will not run in the early presidential election scheduled for June 3.


On the same day, Jeon stated on social media (SNS), "In this short presidential election period, I will do my best to unite the citizens' desire for regime change and national unity, starting from the challenging region of Busan," and added, "I will not run in the 21st presidential election."

Jeon said, "Ahead of the presidential election, as the only Democratic Party lawmaker in Busan, I received many recommendations and advice from those around me to run for president," and "I have deeply considered what I should do for the Democratic Party to come to power."


He continued, "After much deliberation, I have decided not to run in this presidential election," and emphasized, "I will do my best so that the people can have confidence in the Democratic Party and choose it proudly."


Jeon also stressed, "The Democratic Party's coming to power and victory is the path to completely ending the ongoing internal strife and moving toward a more refined and stronger democracy," adding, "It will be a turning point to revive the collapsed national economy and the livelihood economy. With a heavy sense of responsibility, I will fulfill Jeon Jae-su's mission."
