Direct Rebuttal on Facebook on the 12th
"No Phone Number for Mayor Park Either"
Ahead of the April 7, 2021 Busan mayoral by-election, Myung Tae-gyun denied Kang Hye-kyung's claim that he had met several times with Park Hyung-joon, the People Power Party candidate for Busan mayor at the time.
On the 12th, Myung posted on his social media service (SNS), stating, "Kang Hye-kyung said 'Park Hyung-joon came to Myung Tae-gyun asking for help'? I have never met or seen Mayor Park Hyung-joon."
He continued, "There is no call, text, KakaoTalk, or saved phone number of Mayor Park Hyung-joon on my Golden Phone. How could such a thing happen? How many times is this? I have told the prosecution multiple times," denying any acquaintance with Mayor Park.
Kang Hye-kyung, who worked at a public opinion research company operated by Myung, claimed in a pre-recorded interview on a radio broadcast the previous day, "As far as I remember, around late November or early December 2020, Mayor Park came to see Myung Tae-gyun and asked for help, so we started the Park Hyung-joon public opinion survey."
Park's camp responded to Kang's remarks by stating, "This is a 100% fabricated lie and a political conspiracy to smear us," and added, "We plan to take all legal civil and criminal actions immediately."
