Special Education Teacher Training in Western Gyeongbuk: "Behavioral Intervention Strategies for a Classroom that Grows Together"

Four Sessions from April to July
Practical Training Focused on Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

The Special Education Support Center of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Gumi Office of Education is conducting a behavioral intervention competency enhancement training for over 170 special education teachers in the western region of Gyeongbuk (Gumi, Sangju, Gimcheon, Seongju, Goryeong, Chilgok).

Special Education Teacher Training in Western Gyeongbuk: "Behavioral Intervention Strategies for a Classroom that Grows Together" The 2025 Gyeongbuk Western Region Special Education Teachers' Behavior Intervention Support Capacity Building Training is being conducted.

This training will be held four times until July, focusing on effective intervention strategies for challenging behaviors encountered by teachers in special education settings. The sessions are organized with interconnected content, raising expectations among field teachers.


The first session was held on the 10th, inviting Yoo Jeongseok, a behavior analysis expert (KBA) from the Chungbuk Special Education Institute, under the theme of "Education, Teachers, and Positive Behavior Support."


Expert Yoo emphasized the importance of proactive prevention of challenging behaviors and teachers' voluntary self-reflection, presenting concrete practical methods for implementing Positive Behavior Support (PBS).


Teacher Kim, who participated in the training, said, "It made me reflect on my previous approach, which focused only on reducing problem behaviors in the short term," and added, "I realized the importance of practical approaches to improving students' quality of life."


Shin Unsik, head of the Special Education Support Center at the Gumi Office of Education, stated, "I hope this training will help create a happy educational environment for both special education teachers and all students," and added, "We will continue to provide various support to further strengthen teachers' behavioral intervention competencies."


The Office of Education plans to further enhance teachers' practical application skills through follow-up training sessions to be held until July.
