Gokseong County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Jo Sangrae), announced on the 11th that it has operated a practical life skills education program for return-to-farm and return-to-village residents to help them adapt to rural life.
The county provides four educational sessions annually, covering knowledge and technical skills needed for rural life, to help return-to-farm and return-to-village residents settle stably. The program supports instructor fees and material costs.
For this session, a senior return-to-farm resident who settled in the area eight years ago taught 20 new returnees about tractor and cultivator operation, theory, and provided hands-on practice. Guidance was also given on establishing blueberry farms, the main crop in the area.
The county plans to complete four sessions in the first half of this year. Applications can be submitted through the Gokseong County Return-to-Farm and Return-to-Village Support Center, the official website, Band, or KakaoTalk. Additional programs such as woodworking, floriculture, and dyeing are also planned. However, those who have been registered residents and have lived in Gokseong for more than five years as of the application date are not eligible.
Additionally, the county will participate in the 2025 Return-to-Farm and Return-to-Village Regional Revitalization Expo from the 24th to the 27th, where officials will provide consultations on various policies and educational programs to support the integration and settlement of returnees.
A county official stated, "We hope that new return-to-farm residents will not only acquire agricultural skills through this program but also share opinions and exchange information, which will greatly help them settle stably."
