Samsung AI Robot 'Bolly' Equipped with Google Gemini... "Combining Inference Function"

Announced at 'Google Cloud Next 2025'
Ballie expected to launch as early as May or June
Supporting users' daily lives with advanced reasoning capabilities

Samsung Electronics will equip its home AI robot 'Ballie,' set to launch this summer, with Google Cloud's generative AI Gemini. Ballie is expected to utilize Gemini's reasoning capabilities to process and understand various user information.

On the 9th (local time), Samsung Electronics and Google Cloud announced at the 'Google Cloud Next 2025' event held in the United States that they are expanding their partnership to incorporate Google Cloud's generative AI technology into Ballie.

Kim Yong-jae, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' VD (Visual Display) Division, said, "Through this partnership, Samsung and Google are redefining the role of AI within the home," adding, "By combining Gemini's powerful multimodal reasoning with Samsung Ballie's AI capabilities in an open collaboration, we are ushering in a new era of personalized AI companions that move with users, anticipate their needs, and interact in a more dynamic and meaningful way than ever before."

Ballie is expected to be released as early as May or June. Earlier, on the 7th, Yong Seok-woo, head of the VD Division, stated at the new AI TV launch event, "Ballie's hardware development is largely complete, and user service testing is underway," adding, "We hope to share good news soon."

Ballie will be enhanced to process and respond in real time to various inputs such as voice, visual data, and sensor data through Gemini and Samsung Electronics' language models. It will autonomously move around the home, communicate with users, and control Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Based on Gemini's reasoning capabilities, Ballie is also being developed to assist with user health management.

The two companies stated, "This partnership is a continuation of last year's integration of Gemini into the Galaxy S24 series," and added, "We will collaborate to introduce generative AI into more devices in the future."
