The Criminal Division 12 of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Choi Jeong-in) held a trial session at 10 a.m. on the 10th for KCTU member Lee, who was arrested and indicted on charges of special obstruction of official duties causing injury.

The prosecution stated, "The defendant has multiple prior convictions of the same kind," and added, "The extent of the injury is severe and the nature of the crime is serious, so we request a sentence of three years in prison."

Lee is accused of seizing a police officer's walkie-talkie and throwing it, causing a laceration injury to the left forehead of the officer during a confrontation with police at a rally near the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on January 4.

Lee's defense attorney said, "The defendant continues to show remorse," and requested, "Please consider that the act occurred impulsively in a moment of excitement and that the walkie-talkie was never thrown intentionally."

The sentencing hearing for Lee is scheduled to be held at 2:30 p.m. on the 24th.
