On the 10th, Gwangmyeong City announced that it will promote the second local welfare project using the Hometown Love Fund called "Power up Home, Joji Anihan Ga (家)."

This project supports adolescents and young adults who are responsible for family care to live in a comfortable residential environment, focus on their studies and independence, and grow into healthy members of society.

The city has prepared a budget of 21 million won to support seven households where adolescents and young adults are responsible for care due to family members' illness, disability, or aging. From next month until September, the city plans to support housing environment improvement work such as wallpaper replacement, flooring replacement, and bathroom repairs, or replacement of home appliances such as rice cookers, microwaves, beds, and air conditioners, up to a limit of 3 million won per household as needed.

The Hometown Love Fund is a fund used for regional development and resident welfare by utilizing donations collected through the Hometown Love Donation System. Since 2023, the city has been collecting donations and is currently implementing the "Golden Lunchbox Project," which supports single-person households of young adults as its first project this year.

Park Seung-won, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, said, "I hope this project becomes a stepping stone for adolescents and young adults who have to put their own lives and dreams aside to care for their families to move toward the future," adding, "We will continue to promote sustainable support policies so that they can live their lives independently."

Previously, since 2023, the city enacted the "Family Care Adolescents and Young Adults Ordinance," and last year expanded the age criteria for support from 18 years and older to 9 years and older, providing integrated support such as additional care expenses, psychological counseling fees, and self-development expenses.
