Chosun University Dental Hospital Produces Award Winners for Five Consecutive Years at the Korean Academy of Periodontology Chosun University campus view.

Chosun University Dental Hospital (Director Lim Sunghoon) has demonstrated its research competitiveness in periodontology by achieving consecutive successes at academic conferences.

According to Chosun University on the 10th, at the 35th Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Academy of Periodontology held at Pyeongchang Alpensia on the 4th and 5th, Chosun University Dental Hospital residents Jeon Heewon (R3) and Lee Hyunmin (R3) received the Grand Prize and Excellence Award, respectively, for their clinical oral presentations.

With this achievement at the Spring Academic Conference, Chosun University Dental Hospital has produced award winners for five consecutive times, including both the spring and comprehensive academic conferences since 2023. Notably, five residents have won the Grand Prize over the past three years.

Resident Jeon Heewon, who received the Grand Prize, presented on the topic "Management of Stage III, Grade C periodontitis with initial molar-incisor pattern: A six-month clinical and radiographic evaluation."

The presentation highlighted that by applying customized prescriptions and treatments to patients with incisor-molar pattern periodontitis, which involves extensive alveolar bone loss at a young age, it is possible to promote alveolar bone regeneration and improve tooth survival rates. The systematic analysis of treatment approaches reflecting the unique characteristics of the disease was highly evaluated.

Resident Lee Hyunmin, who received the Excellence Award, presented on the topic "Minor tooth movement with a mini tube appliance for the treatment of pathologic tooth migration and addressing the cause of gingival recession."

The case study demonstrated the resolution of esthetic issues caused by pathologic tooth migration through partial orthodontic treatment using a mini tube appliance. In particular, the approach was praised for achieving stable results in treating gingival recession by combining partial orthodontic treatment with root coverage procedures to address recession caused by abnormal tooth positioning.
