Songpa-gu Provides Support Worth 40 Million Won to Three Sister Cities with Donations and Goods
Companies, Senior Centers, and Professional Organizations Join in Local Donation Drive
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 10th that it will support the recovery of wildfire damage in the Yeongnam region with donations and goods worth approximately 40 million won, which were collectively raised by residents.
This support is especially meaningful as residents voluntarily stepped forward to help the sister cities of Songpa-gu: ▲Andong-si ▲Yeongdeok-gun ▲Hadong-gun.
First, 10 million won donated by residents will be delivered as daily necessities through the '2025 Love Fruit Songpa Sharing Network Project.' After consultation with the local governments in the affected areas, customized items will be sent to the needed regions as early as this week.
GA Inoders Co., Ltd., a company located in Songpa-gu, generously donated 20 million won. This donation will be designated and used for urgent and practical recovery efforts in the sister cities.
Professional organizations active in each neighborhood also actively joined the wildfire damage support. They collected daily necessities such as clothing, tableware, and toiletries, which were requested as actually needed on-site, from various local areas through collective contributions. These items are scheduled to be sent to the affected areas on April 11.
Members of the Munjeong Siyeong Apartment Senior Citizens' Center in Jangji-dong donated 500,000 won from their savings on the 7th. Elder Lee In-soon said, "It was heartbreaking to know that most of the affected residents are elderly like us," adding, "Although it is a small contribution, I hope it can help even a little."
Additionally, on the 7th, the Songpa-gu Sports Council donated 11.5 million won to the Yeongdeok Welfare Foundation, and voluntary donations continue from district office employees, various departments, and neighborhood community centers. The donations will be delivered to assist wildfire victims through the Community Chest of Korea.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, expressed, "I extend my deepest condolences to the disaster victims who lost their homes due to the unexpected wildfires," and added, "I hope the warm hearts of Songpa-gu residents will help heal the pain of the sister city residents and aid in restoring their daily lives."
